WARM - Whitewater Area Regional Ministry
University Ministry Free Student Lunches
Richmond UMC supports Whitewater Area Regional Ministry, or WARM, in a ministry that serves free home-cooked meals to any University of Wisconsin Whitewater students. Several churches take turn providing food and volunteers to serve in this minstry as witness and testimony to God's great work. To date, this ministry has served over 200 lunches to more than 56,000 students.
Richmond UMC members who are available make a home-cooked dish or dessert to pass, and provide assist in the kitchen preparing food, washing dishes, and serving meals to students. Whether students are attending school far away from home, or live right here in our hometown, they look forward to the home-cooked meals at the First United Methodist Church in Whitewater each Tuesday dring the Fall and Spring semesters. Students enjoy the meal at no cost and get to spend time as they wish with church members with no pressure or obligation. In the past students themselves have raised money on their own to contributing funds to the Heifer Project. To date, the students have been able to donate 16 water buffalos, 2 goats, and a llama.
