According to Matthew 28: 19-20 - the risen Christ made it clear: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you” 

The United Methodist Church mission is: "...to make disciples of Jesus Christ."  The local church achieves this by welcoming, worshiping, nurturing, and supporting those in ministry.
